KDMC special team soon to act against 686 dilapidated structures

Thane: The unfortunate incident of Thakurli building collapse has forced the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) to take stringent action against the dilapidated structures in its jurisdiction.
E Ravindran, the newly-appointed KDMC chief had called for a special meeting and decided that a special team will be formed, which will focus on risky buildings. It will be the responsibility of ward officers to ensure that such buildings are razed.
“A special team consisting of two executives, two deputy engineers, two junior engineers and two survey incharge officials will be formed. They will be divided and will work in Kalyan and Dombivli and within the next eight days ensure that immediate action is taken against the most dangerous buildings,” said a civic chief requesting anonymity.
Those buildings which needs to be vacated and demolished will be razed and other structures will go through a structural audit and the survey results will be submitted to the commissioner within next eight days.
The Thakurli incident happened on July 28 in which nine residents were killed and 10 were injured. Although a complaint was filed against the builders and arrests were made, KDMC had come under fire as there are 686 dilapidated buildings under its jurisdiction.
In the last one year, commissioners have been replaced for three times in KDMC and due to the lack of a committed top official at the top, many important decisions have gone unnoticed.
“We have also asked for an inquiry to be done about the status of the buildings which are dilapidated. This survey will ensure that such accidents do not happen in the future,” said Ravindran.

If you think that you are little short from the budget while buy 2 BHK in Dombivli so in present there are much number of financial institutions and banks are out there which can offer you home loan at very low interest rate, so that residents of Mumbai can own their own home and fulfill their own dream to have roof in Mumbai where they can live and enjoy the life.
