KHARGHAR: Residents of housing societies, organisations and NGOs of Kharghar have joined hands to demand the node’s inclusion under Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation(NMMC).
The node is now under City and Industrial Development Corporation(Cidco). Residents are upset because of the recent proposal to include Kharghar under Panvel Municipal Council (PMC).
The residents, under the banner of United Kharghar residents, have petitioned the chief minister for the inclusion of Kharghar node in the NMMC.
“Kharghar is the model town of Navi Mumbai and it was included in the Navi Mumbai developmental plan in 1979. Cidco is currently taking good care of the node. However, being included in the NMMC jurisdiction has its own advantages,” said a representative of the United Kharghar Residents’ Forum.
Residents who wish to support this have to give a missed call on 08030636592 or sign an online petition.
“As per the development plan submitted by Cidco to state government, Cidco is supposed to transfer it to NMMC after completing all the developmental work. Since most major housing projects are in Kharghar, it has been an attraction for most homebuyers, who want better facilities,” said the representative.
The members highlighted that Kharghar faces water shortage among other problems.
Since NMMC has its own dam and there is almost zero-load shedding and public transport services are better, the residents want the node to be included in the municipal corporation.
