MUMBAI: The process of granting no objection certificates (NOCs) to lease holders for redevelopment purposes, along with the renewal and transfer of lease, just got easier. Various procedures involved with the NOC, renewal and transfer of plots have been simplified to get the required permissions from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) within a month’s time. This earlier took more than two months.
The simplified procedure will facilitate the lessees and citizens with one-page applications to be filled along with a handful of documents. The civic estate department’s simplified application forms have been uploaded on the BMC’s official website and are open to public suggestions and objections for a short period of time. The time period to grant a formal NOC for the redevelopment of a municipal lease plot is now just 17 days, as stated in the simplified procedure published online.
A civic official, on condition of anonymity, said, “The process of transfer of the Lease rights application, along with issuing NOCs to the leaseholder for redevelopment and also the lease renewal application has been simplified by the department. The permissions to be granted for all renewal or transfers usually takes more than two months. This has been curtailed and will be granted within a month’s time.”
Civic chief Ajoy Mehta had ordered all department heads to simplify the process to get permissions from the civic body, early last month.
Vishvas Shankarwar, assistant municipal commissioner (Estates), said, “The NOCs for any leaseholder for redevelopment of a plot can be now obtained within a month’s time. There has been a simplified sample of application forms and procedures made available on BMC’s website for public suggestions/objections.”
