NAVI MUMBAI: With CIDCO resuming its drive against illegal structures of project affected people (PAP), the PAPs are angry claiming that several constructions that have received notices are legal and from the pre-2012 deadline. They have geared up to once again launch an agitation to oppose the drive.
The state government has declared that it plans to regularise houses built till December 2012. The high court had ordered that all illegal constructions built from January 2013 be demolished. Cidco had accordingly initiated its drive, which was halted around mid-June following protests by the PAP. They demanded a review and a listing of illegal structures based on the norms set.
Cidco t hen conducted a review and sent notices to 219 constructions it termed illegal. The PAP said there were several structures on the list that were eligible for regularisation.
Meghnath Bhagat, a PAP, said, “Cidco has issued a notice to my building in Vashi. The building was constructed by my family in 2004. In the past 11 years, there has not been a single new construction on the plot. So, as per government norms, the structure is eligible for regularisation.” Gharat said, “But, Cidco has sent a notice claiming the structure is illegal.”
Bhagat said he has submitted documents and also Google Earth pictures of the area since 2004 to Cidco to support his claim. He has appealed to Cidco managing director Sanjay Bhatia to review the list.
Kruti Samiti secretary, Nilesh Patil, said, “There are many mistakes in the Cidco list. Action has been taken against some of the structures mentioned.”
Yogesh Mhase, chief of Cidco’s Controller of Unauthorised Constructions (CUC) department, said, “There are no mistakes in Cidco’s illegal structures list. The list has been prepared after being verified at various levels.”
