Thakurli bldg crash: Govt mum on relief : The Times of India

Five days after the Matru Kripa building collapse in Thakurli, in which nine persons were killed and 10 injured, the state government is yet to announce compensation for the victims' families.
The families have lost everything they had, including homes and loved ones and are hoping to receive financial assistance from the government so that they can make a fresh start. Shortly after the tragedy, guardian minister Eknath Shinde, MP Shreekant Shinde and MLA Ravindra Chavan had visited the spot and promised them financial aid from the state government, but five days have passed without any announcement from the state government and no official has visited the community hall where the survivors of the tragedy are currently residing. The Kalyan-Dombivli municipal chief E Ravindran had announced that survivors would be accommodated in transit camps or in homes under the basic services for ur Resident Ravindra Redij, who lost his 75-year-old mother in the mishap, said, “The government is not helping and I don't know what to do.“ Another resident, Kanchan Yadav said, “When the disaster occurred, many leaders visited and promised help, but now no one has come forward to see how we are surviving“.--Pradeep Gupta ban poor project.

The survivors have lost all their belongings and are now totally dependent on local corporator Shekhar Chaudhari, local non-governmental organizations and local residents for basic necessities.
