A Rs 30,000crore six-lane highway connecting Mumbai to Nagpur will be built by September 2019, CM Devendra Fadnavis has announced in the state legislature. It will have facilities such as CCTV , WiFi, optical fibres and will be known as super-communication highway .Like the Mumbai-Pune Expressway , this too will have controlled access.
Fadnavis said that the super-communication highway will be constructed through a joint venture with the Centre.
“It will connect north Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha with Mumbai and give impetus to the development of these regions like the Mumbai-Pune Expressway did for Pune. Commuters will be able to travel the distance in 10 hours,“ he said.
In another development, the state is contemplating to extend the Adoshi tunnel by 100 metres near Khopoli on the Pune Expressway . It is also considering putting sensors in the landslide-prone areas.Three people were killed and six injured in a landslide in the area on July 19.
