Mhada, the housing authority, has been constructing affordable houses for those who cannot afford to buy from private builders It had a huge land bank but it squandered much of it away by giving it to politicos, bureaucrats as well as private parties for a pittance With real estate prices touching the roof, buyers have become dependent on Mhada which results in more than 100 applicants for a single flat.
