In deference to builders, an MP village `vanishes' : The Times of India

Palia Haider village in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district was removed from land records to benefit a few builders, information obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed.
Officials at the In Officials at the Indore registrar's office had allegedly done it to ensure land rates did not go up before revision of rates for 2014-15. “The government suffered loss of revenue by way of sale and purchase of the land because of the brazen act of unscrupulous elements,“ said Rajendra K Gupta, who had filed the RTI query. Ramlal Sharma, a resident of the village located 25km from Indore, said he came to know about the removal when he visited the registrar office.

“I was surprised to learn that our village, which was there for ages, was no longer there in government land record.'' The fraud has forced Indore divisional commissioner to or der an inquiry. “Land re cords show that after the disappearance of the village, a few builders, who were developing colonies and townships, sold hundreds of plots and houses on stamp papers without proper registry,“ Gupta said.
