J&K looks at Rs 1.27 lakh cr over 5 yrs for ‘development plan’

Jammu & Kashmir Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu is likely to meet Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday to push for a special development plan, which demands an expenditure of Rs 1,27,000 crore over five years.
The J&K government is keen to project it as a development plan that will help generate income on a sustainable basis in the future.
“What the Omar Abdullah government sought was a relief package, which was essentially a dole,” a government functionary told The Indian Express.
At a meeting of key Central government secretaries, called by Jaitley last month, Drabu had made a presentation detailing the BJP-PDP government’s plan to revive the state’s economy.
