DEVELOPMENT PUSH Cidco will develop the area to rehabilitate airport’s project-affected people
CBD BELAPUR: The state environment department committee has given a green signal to the development of smart city at Pushpak Nagar.
Pushpak Nagar work will be completed in six months and the beneficiaries will get their land in March.
The City and I ndustrial Development Cor poration (Cidco) is developing the area to rehabilitate Navi Mumbai airport project-affected people (PAP). However, the lack of clearance from the environment department had led to a halt in the developmental plans.
However, in a meeting held last week, the committee cleared the project. Cidco has now decided to start the project immediately after monsoon ends.
The airport project requires a total of 2,268 hectares (ha) of land. Of this, 1,597 hectare land has already been acquired by Cidco. The land acquisition process of the remaining 671 hectare from the 12 revenue villages has been completed. As compensation for the land, the PAP will be given 22.5% developed land for the land acquired from them.
This land is being given in the 239 hectare area being developed as Pushpak Nagar. Cidco is developing this location on the smart city concept of the central government.
“Cidco had been following up with the state environment department for the past year about the project. But for several reasons, the process to get permission for the project had been delayed,” said a Cidco official. “However, in the meeting held last weekend, the Pushpak Nagar project was sanctioned.”
Cidco joint managing director V Radha, Cidco consultant Satyendu Sinha and airport project chief engineer Sanjay Choudhary were present at the meeting.
According to airport project chief engineer Sanjay Choudhary, the land filling work at Pushpak Nagar will begin from September.
“Contractors have already been appointed for the purpose,” said Choudhary. “Tenders are expected to be called next month for providing basic infrastructure. The work will be completed in the next six months and around March 2016, the beneficiaries will be handed over possession of their land.”
As soon as the environment clearance is formally received, the developmental work will begin. As soon as a copy of the award certificate is received from Metro centre, preparation of documents for the allotment of land will begin. Once ready, a formal agreement will be entered into with the land owners. Thereafter, the account holders will be given possession of their land in phases.
