CBD BELAPUR:
The demolition drives against illegal PAP structures has not stopped, said Cidco.
Vice-chairman and managing director, Cidco, Sanjay Bhatia said the lull is because the body is identifying the structures constructed post 2012. He also said the 200m limit boundary is not applicable to constructions post-2012.
Reacting to claims that Cidco has stopped the drives following opposition by the projectaffected people (PAP), Bhatia said, “The drives haven’t been stopped. We did take some action in some areas.”
“When we discussed with the PAP leaders, they said you can remove the constructions that have come up in 2013, 2014 and 2015. We have at present undertaken the identification process of such structures through Google map. It will be completed in a week,” he said.
Bhatia added that there is also an issue of demarcating the area of need-based extensions which are planners have undertaken. “We want to confirm who qualifies and who doesn’t. We will discuss the issue with the PAP and then come to a final conclusion. It will take some time,” said Bhatia.
“As soon as the survey of the post-2012 buildings is completed and the rain stops, we will resume our drive. We have certainly not stopped the drive.”
On the reports of Cidco submitting a new proposal to the government to not consider 200m boundary limit for post2012 buildings, Bhatia said, “There is no such proposal as the issue has already been cleared repeatedly. The 200 m boundary to be considered for need based structures is only for pre-2012 constructions.”
He said: “Post-2012, whether the construction is within 200m or outside, it will be demolished if illegal. We have not sent any new proposal to the government.”
