Upset Chinchpada villagers refuse to sign Cidco pact : Hindustan Times

CLAIMING THAT THEIR DEMANDS HAVE NOT BEEN MET, THE VILLAGERS HAVE DECIDED NOT TO ACCEPT THE AWARD CONTRACT

PANVEL: Chinchpada villagers have alleged that the rehabilitation package announced by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) for the airport project-affected people is misleading.

Chinchpada is a village near Khandeshwar railway station. Many villagers have given their plots for the new airport.

Chinchpada is a small village near Khandeshwar railway station. Claiming that their demands have not been met, the villagers have decided not to accept the award contract.

In a recent press conference, they indicated that they are planning a non-cooperation movement with Cidco soon.

Advocate Pradeep Mundkar, a resident of Chinchpada, said: “Cidco that has been entrusted with the responsibility of airport development had announced a rehabilitation package in 2010. At the time, the villagers of the project-affected areas had given their consent letters. Despite the opposition by other villages, Chinchpada was amongst the first to support the project.”

He added, “We also cooperated with Cidco for the survey. However, Cidco has not fulfilled its promise.”

Mundkar said: “Cidco has shown its double standards on gaothan houses, houses on survey number land and other social issues. Besides, it has also been biased in giving rehabilitation package.”

Ravindra Bhopi, another villager, said: “Several villagers are yet to get their promised land in lieu of the land acquired by them. Some people got them through underhand dealings. Cidco is not giving compensation for all the houses of a person. Only one house is being considered.”

There has been correspondence with Cidco on behalf of Chinchpada villagers, but there has been no positive response. We will not resort to fasts, agitations and morcha to ensure our demands are met.”

Cidco officials said it would hold talks with villagers to resolve the issues.

  1. If you are new in Mumbai, so no doubt you are finding it difficult to get the accommodation in city like Mumbai because here the cost of living is too high in comparison of other cities. If you are all alone and planning to live alone for next one year, so better to get the 1 BHK in Kalyan on rent as it will cost you little amount and you will find yourself in budget while enjoying the metro city life culture. .
