MUMBAI: The Builders Association of India has appealed the government to initiate corrective measures to resolve issues that are blocking housing and infrastructure development.
"While Builders Association of India appreciates that the Government has rightly allocated more than Rs 65 lakh crores for the physical development of housing infrastructure in the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-2017), it should now help the industry by removing obstacles that are stalling these plans," said Mahesh M. Mudda, General Secretary of the association.
The association has highlighted issues such as scarcity of sand, non-utilisation of collected labour welfare cess amount, lapse of land acquisition ordinance, relaxation of banks' lending norms and reduction of interest rate, which need immediate attention.
The Builders' Association of India ( BAI) established in 1941, is the body of builders and contractors with over 15,000 direct members.
