Thane-Diva's 5th & 6th lines in last lap:The Times of India

Work on the Thane-Diva fifth and sixth lines is likely to gather steam in a couple of months as the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) plans to begin construction of platforms, subways and foot overbridges.
The MRVC recently invited tenders for these and other civil works worth Rs 27 crore, the last contract in the entire project for the ThaneDiva additional tracks. The sanctioned cost of the entire project, which is scheduled to be completed by December 2017, is Rs 287 crore.

“Around 60% of the work on the project has already been completed,“ an MRVC official said. “We are on course to complete the project in time provided rehabilitation issues get resolved.“

Encroachments along the 9.8-km corridor have already delayed the project over rehabilitation issues, besides niggles like Tree Authority approvals.

“The tunnel work has already been completed,“ the official said. “Even the work on the road overbridge at Mumbra is in an advanced stage of completion. Nearly 80% progress has been achieved on minor bridges.“

There are still some 100 structures for which rehabilitation is awaited, but the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has assured the MRVC of resolution of the issue soon.
