Man tries to trick slain builder’s son, held : Hindustan Times

NAVI MUMBAI: A 24-year-old history sheeter tried to make some money by fooling Sunny, son of slain builder SK Lahoria. He posed as a sharp shooter but his half-baked plan did not work. He landed in police net instead.

According to t he police, the accused Karim Shaikh, a native of Andhra Pradesh, was roaming around outside SK Developer’s office at sector 28 in Vashi on Friday morning. Police naik Amrut Jagtap, who has been appointed as Sunny’s personal body guard spotted him and asked him about his identity.

“Shaikh then told Jagtap that he had been given ‘supari’ to kill Sunny by some of the accused who were involved in the murder of his father, SK Lahoria. When Jagtap started inquiring about those people, Shaikh asked for some money to give more details,” said Anil Shinde, assistant police inspector of Vashi police station.

Jagtap then nabbed Shaikh and informed the Vashi police about it. A police team immediately reached the spot and arrested him.

He has been booked under section 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation) of the Indian Penal Code.

During interrogation, the police learnt that Shaikh is a habitual offender and was in jail in 2014 for cheating a politician in Mumbai.

“He has revealed that he learnt about the SK Lahoria murder case by reading Tamil newspapers. Later he gathered more details searching on internet and made a plan to make some money by cheating Sunny,” Shinde said.

The police are however, still trying to find out if there was any reality in Shaikh’s initial ‘supari killing story’.

“Even though we have understood that Shaikh was cooking up that story to make some money, we have not jumped to the conclusion. We are coordinating with the Taloja jail and Mumbai police to get some more details about him. We are also investigating if he was in touch with any of the accused involved in the SK Lahoria murder case,” he said.

Developer SK Lahoria (50) was shot dead in front of his office at sector 28 in Vashi by two assailants on motorcycle on February 16, in 2013.

The Mumbai crime branch arrested several people including one retired police inspector Emmanual Amolik in connection with the murder.

  1. No matter, you are from Mumbai or outside Mumbai, these days both kinds of people are investing in the Kalyan and Dombivli region, but if you are not from Mumbai, so its pretty difficult for you to get the real picture of Mumbai real estate market, but with the help of Kalyan Dombivli news you can make the best property decisions without any consultation of real estate agents.
