Mumbai is being cut down to size - Saamna: The Times of India

Mumbai: Saamna on Thursday accused the Centre of planning to shift key government offices from Mumbai to New Delhi in an attempt to diminish the city's pre-eminence as the country's financial capital.

Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday devoted his weekly column to the controversy which, he said, is hurting the pride of Maharashtra.

Stating that Air India (AI) has already shifted its head office from Mumbai to New Delhi, Raut said, "All Marathi Air India officers are now languishing in the New Delhi office. The AI administration has created a situation which will compel Marathi officers to put in their papers...As many as 17 crew members from Maharashtra have been summarily sacked by the administration and there is no one to fight for them," said Raut. He slammed Union minister Nitin Gadkari for his recent statement that there were no plans to shift Union government's offices from Mumbai to New Delhi.

Track air pollution in cities, says MNS

MNS has demanded setting up air pollution indicators in major cities in the state. The party also wants the state pollution control board officials to be invested with powers to file criminal cases against factories that flout emission norms. MNS workers met environment minister Ramdas Kadam with their demands.
