Mumbai:
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday assured residents of Corner View Apartment, Surve House and Dayalji Apartment in Dadar that they will not be relocated due to the Colaba-BandraSeepz Metro-III project, but will be rehabilitated in the same place.
On Tuesday , a Shiv Sena delegation, led by industries minister Subhash Desai, MP Rahul Shewale and local MLA Sada Sarvankar, along with 15 residents met Fadnavis at his official bungalow Varsha.“The residents have suggested alternative locations in the area. The state will survey the land, but the project will not be cancelled,“ Fadnavis said.
On June 4, the MMRDA issued show-cause notices to the three buildings stating why the land should not be acquired under the Maharashtra Region and Town Planning Act 1966. “We do not want to give up our land as we are not the beneficiaries. The MMRDA should either come up with a concrete rehabilitation plan or cancel the land acquisition plan or even scrap the project,“ said Mangesh Vengsarkar, who lives in Surve House. “They could use the BEST or Bank of Maharashtra plot or nearby playground for the duct.“
Sarvankar clarified that Sena was not opposed to the project. “We are not against MetroIII, but residents should be accommodated in the same place.“
