Modi reviews progress of key projects worth over Rs 60,000 cr in sectors such as coal & power
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed dismay over delay in execution of infrastructure projects due to repeated litigations.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) issued a statement that Modi reviewed the progress of infrastructure projects worth over . 60,000 crore pertaining to the rail` ways and the road, power, coal, petroleum, and renewable energy sectors.Modi was taking stock of projects in states like Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The review was a part of Modi's fourth interaction through PRAGATI--the ICT-based, multi-modal platform for pro-active governance and timely implementation.
“The Prime Minister asked de partments concerned to proactively pursue these matters judicially, and highlight the difficulties faced by the people due to the non-completion of these projects,“ the PMO said. Modi, however, complimented several states for their effort to speed up execution of infrastructure projects.
The prime minister also expressed concern at the grievances relating to delivery of passports.The PMO statement noted that Modi directed the ministries of external affairs and home to hold a joint workshop to examine ways and means to reduce time in various clearances, to enable quicker processing of passports.
