75% of nullah desilting still remains: Cong: Times Of India

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

The Congress has alleged that the Shiv Sena-BJP ruled BMC was misleading people and making tall claims about the nullah desilting work. The opposition party alleged that the BMC had completed only 25 % of desilting work. The BMC claims it has completed 93% of the desilting work.
City Congress president Sanjay Nirupam along with opposition leader in the BMC De vendra Amberkar on Monday visited nullahs in the western suburbs where desilting work was still in progress. They alleged that the ruling parties had inspected only those nullahs where the work had been completed and forged records to mislead people.

“According to need, the civic authority needs to remove 13,000 cubic metres of silt daily for which it needed 1,650 trucks. But they weer unable to produce records to show the quantity of silt removed and number of trucks used,“ Nirupam said.

BJP city president Ashish Shelar also inspected the desilting work recently and raised similar issues as contractors failed to produce slips to support their silt removal claims.
