`Recover Rs 29cr from RIL for land deal loss' :The Times of India


Recover from Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) the losses the state exchequer incurred after the former was awarded a plot of land in Navi Mumbai by Cidco at a rate less than the market price, ruled a state public accounts committee (PAC) of the Maharashtra legislative assembly on Wednesday . The PAC has also rapped Cidco for not providing affordable homes to commoners.
The PAC asked Cidco to immediately recover Rs 28.42 crore from RIL and intimate the committee accordingly within three months. It has also pulled up the MERC for irregularities in awarding a Rs 9.66 crore contract to a consultancy firm, without holding a competitive and transparent bidding.

PAC's report on the deals made by Cidco, MERC and MIDC was tabled in the state assembly on Wednesday . Cid co has the mandate of mak ing available affordable hous ing for commoners but i doesn't seem to have met this demand, the PAC, led by se nior BJP legislators and former minister Sunil Desh mukh, has said.

According to the PAC, the Comptroller and Auditor Ge neral (CAG) of India while sc rutinizing the Cidco accounts had revealed that the land al lotted to RIL at Beverly Park in Koparkhairane was sold a a price below the market rate leading to a loss of Rs 28.42 crore to the state treasury .

The PAC also slammed the MIDC for a land deal with a private firm--APCL-in Turbhe without defining la nd use. “This has led to a bene fit of Rs 5.44 crore to APCL and equal loss to the state,“ the committee said. -Chit taranjan Tembhekar
