SCLR extension: Kalanagar flyover may be dropped : The Times of India

Mumbai: The plan to decongest Kalanagar junction with grade separation through elevated roads may be modified due to the SantacruzChembur Link Road Extension Project, which was approved by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority on August 26.

The Rs 744-crore SCLR extension project includes a 3.5-km long elevated road between Kapadia Nagar on CST road to the Western Express Highway (WEH) and a 1.9-km flyover linking WEH to the Asian Heart Hospital junction in BKC via the Vakola flyover. It also includes a 1.1-km flyover from Kapadia Nagar to the MTNL junction via BKC road, to decongest Mohammed Imam Raza Chowk.

An MMRDA official said, “The flyover between WEH and the Asian Heart Hospital via Mumbai University's Kalina campus will decongest Kalanagar junction, as vehicles entering BKC will use this new elevated road proposedunder the SCLR extension project.“

Also, the 3.5-km SCLR will have ramps at many places, which will divert traffic going towards BKC to re ach the WEH.

The official said, “We are of the opinion that a flyover planned from BKC to Kherwadi above Kalanagar may not be required because of the SCLR extension project. However, a final call on this is yet be taken.“

Under the Kalanagar plan, a two-lane 1.8 km long flyover was proposed to be built for vehicles travelling between the sea link and BKC. Moreover, another two lane flyover was proposed to originate from Sion-Dharav Link Road and connect to the BKC-Kherwadi flyover. Also a 300m long and 12ft wide road has been planned from Sion-Dharavi Link Road to the sea link via the PWD of fices behind Nandadeep Gar den. At present, vehicles have to come near the Kala nagar junction to turn left.

About 12,000 vehicles pass through Kalanagar junction every hour.

No matter, you are from Mumbai or outside Mumbai, these days both kinds of people are investing in the Kalyan and Dombivli region, but if you are not from Mumbai, so its pretty difficult for you to get the real picture of Mumbai real estate market, but with the help of Kalyan Dombivli news you can make the best property decisions without any consultation of real estate agents.
